MEET HEATHER

Heather is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and tenured K–8 certified teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Trinity University and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Texas Christian University. She completed her Certified Academic Language Therapist training through the Key School Dyslexia Training Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Over the course of her career as an educator, Heather has spent 10 years as an elementary school teacher in the public school setting, three years in private school settings, and 10 years homeschooling her five children. She has extensive training in literacy and structured reading instruction, including the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum, Saxon Phonics, Texas Reading Academy, Really Great Reading Phonics, and the Barton Reading and Spelling System, an Orton-Gillingham-based program.

Heather's passion for dyslexia intervention became especially personal following the dyslexia diagnosis of one of her own children. This experience, combined with her years as an educator and specialized training as a CALT, has strengthened her commitment to helping children develop the skills and confidence they need to become successful, lifelong readers and spellers.

Heather prioritizes creating an environment where children feel safe, encouraged, and successful while ensuring parents feel supported throughout the process.

She lives in Aledo with her husband and family. She and her husband have two daughters at Texas A&M University and a son and twin daughters at Aledo High School.

  Heather is passionate about working with younger students to help develop pre-reading skills - in addition to students who are already reading! Heather primarily uses the Orton-Gillingham based tutoring method which is a multi-sensory, direct, explicit, structured and sequential program designed for intervention.
