MEET SYDNEY

Hello! I’m Sydney Thornell, an educator, literacy specialist, and passionate advocate for helping students with learning differences succeed. With over nine years of experience in education, I have served as an elementary teacher, university instructor, mentor teacher, and curriculum trainer. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with students who learn in different ways and have seen firsthand how individualized support can transform a child’s confidence and academic growth.

I grew up in San Antonio, Texas and attended Stephen F. Austin State University on an athletic scholarship to play golf. I attained both my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education in reading from SFA. Axe’Em Jacks! I also hold a Doctor of Education with a specialization in Literacy from the University of Houston. My experience includes teaching reading, mentoring future educators, and designing instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.

I believe that every child can learn when instruction is tailored to their unique strengths and needs. My goal is to create a positive, encouraging environment where students love reading, can develop new skills, and celebrate their progress. I am especially passionate about helping students strengthen their reading abilities while building the confidence that leads to lifelong success.

My husband, Kyle, and I have been married for eight years. We have three children, Maisie (3), and one year old twins, Hank & Ivy. We love spending time at the zoo, attending sporting events, and exploring our new community in Aledo.

I look forward to partnering with your family and helping your child thrive!
